The 1 Value My Parents Passed Down That Changed How I Do Business
Share
When I was a child, I didn’t understand why my parents did business the way they did.
Since 2000, they have run an apparel manufacturer in Tan Binh, Ho Chi Minh City and often supplied local traders goods without taking any upfront payment. As a kid, I thought it was risky. What if the buyers didn’t pay them back?
But as I got older, I started to see the bigger picture. My parents understood that those traders were doing their best with what they had. They were fueled by grit, hope, and a quiet determination to build something better.
By extending a little flexibility and trust, my parents were giving those small traders more than just stock, they were offering possibilities. With products on their shelves and breathing room in their cash flow, many found the confidence to dream bigger, grow stronger, and build businesses that truly thrived. And over time, they always came back. Not just as customers, but as partners.
Hang tight. This is where things really get exciting.
Since I’ve moved to Australia and begun exploring the local small business landscape, I noticed how different things could be. I learned that many decorators were expected to pay for stock upfront, often more than they needed just to access better pricing. If something didn't sell, they bore the full risk. It made me reflect on how access, flexibility, and trust can truly shape a business's potential to grow.
It reminded me of all those traders my parents once helped. The only difference was, now I was watching the other side struggle.
And that's what inspired me to create Polonè Supply, a different kind of supplier.
One that offers high-quality, ethically made blanks from our own factory, without the usual pressure or inflexibility.
More importantly, it's built on the same values my parents lived by: trust, fairness, and belief in people's potential. Through our unique wholesale system, we give our partners room to move with options like paying later and returning unsold inventory at the end of the year. Because we believe that when small businesses are given space to breathe, they don't just survive, they thrive.
Polonè exists to make life easier for the people behind the craft. To give them the freedom to focus on what matters, grow at their own pace, and build something meaningful with less stress and more support.
